Is saying "go back to where you came from" racist?

Trump's recent tweet suggesting that "progressive Democrat Congresswomen" (which many believe is referring to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Omar, Rep. Pressley and Rep. Tlaib, aka The Squad) go back to where they came from has caused an uproar from the Left who believe it is more evidence of his racism. But is his tweet actually racist? Is the word 'racism' overused? What is the difference between explicit and implicit racism or other biases? And ultimately what does this latest political controversy mean for the 2020 election?

I have lost so much respect for red mom listening to this. The ignorance is incredible. I think you supporting the sentiment of “if you don’t like it, leave, is the last straw for me. Not all of us have the financial means to leave. Or the means to leave our families and relatives. How easy do you think it is to establish citizenship in another country? And Why should we? No, I won’t “leave” just because I disagree with something my country does. That’s actually a remarkably selfish thing to do, running away from your country rather than taking the opportunity to try and make a difference and change the nation and make life better for other people. Can you imagine how ridiculous this “if you don’t like it, leave” argument sounds when you compare to every social reformer in history? MLK, if you don’t like segregation, leave. Gandhi, if you don’t like British colonial rule, leave. Mandela, if you don’t like apartheid, leave. Can you imagine how much worse off our world would be if every potential social reformer chose to pack their bags and run off when they could have made an actual difference to a situation they thought was unfair and unjust?

What is the point of trying to defend Trump’s tweet by saying he didn’t actually mention the 4 congresswomen by name of you yourself (and every other human being with half a brain) don’t think he could have been referring to ANYONE ELSE? Completely pointless comment.
